About King Alfred School
King Alfred School is a small, friendly, independent, co-educational child-centred school. We accept pupils from age 4 to 18; the school is strictly non-denominational embracing a wide ability range. Classes are unusually small and pastoral care is very strong with a pupil teacher ratio of 1/8. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to research and to work independently and to play a full part in the life of the school.
We offer a broad curriculum and we have an excellent record of academic success and this is reflected in our outstanding exam results. Our educational philosophy leads to the elimination of many of the formal barriers between teacher and pupil. We also pride ourselves on our many extra-curricular activities and an ever-growing Enrichment programme.
We offer a wide range of subjects including IT, Spanish, Music Technology, Photography, Theatre Studies and Business Studies. Informality is typified by the use of first names, the absence of uniform. With the acquisition of a new property the school has expanded across the road where there are new Reception and Year 1 classrooms as well as a stunning new CDT block.
We are a vibrant community and we feel this can be sensed best by visiting our school via our website www.kingalfred.org.uk. You are most welcome to come and experience King Alfred School for yourselves.
