About the school

We are a proud school serving students aged 2-19 with Special Educational Needs. Each day our students bring their own unique energy into their school. In turn we ensure that they receive a high quality educational provision delivered through the immensely capable and effective hands of our staff.

The site itself presents a safe and welcoming environment with students place in one of the following settings:

Phase 1: Phase 1 Milestone @ Cherry Orchard Primary (Nursery Satellite)

Phase 2: Phase 2 Milestone @ Dartford Primary (Primary Satellite)

Phase 3: Phase 3 Milestone @ The Leigh (Secondary Satellite)

Phase 4: Phase 4 Milestone @ Wilmington (FE Satellite)

Please note that the above satellite provisions are self-contained units based within four Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) mainstream academies, and are only available to students on Milestone Academy’s roll. These specialist spaces were set up with the aim of providing Milestone Academy students with access to inclusion opportunities, independence skills and social experiences that they might not otherwise have the chance to experience. Please note that current procedures around Covid-19 and the need to maintain “bubbles” has restricted inclusion activities at the present time.

We recognise that adopting a personalised approach is a critical key for each student’s development. Therefore, we invest a significant amount of time assessing the student’s needs – an assessment that ensures we respond in the most specific manner. This approach is repeated throughout their time with us.

Personal independence is quite rightly an aim for each of our students. Therefore, in and out of classrooms we pride ourselves in adopting an approach that accelerates the development of life skills and enhances communication techniques. In parallel, we ensure that each student is taught the appropriate national curriculum subjects, as well as literacy and numeracy skills.

We may well be one of the largest schools of its type in England but rest assured that each student is extremely well known by the adults in their class. The appropriate mix of safety, care and challenge is delivered to each student, every single day that they attend Milestone Academy.
