The Hawthorns Primary School is located on the Woosehill Estate to the west of the town of Wokingham. The area is very attractive with a good shopping centre and excellent community facilities within easy reach.
The school opened in 1981 to serve a new area of predominantly private housing. The building is attractive and well maintained and the grounds are spacious.
The school had an Ofsted inspection in May 2017 and received a Good report. The school has achieved the Green Flag Eco-School Award and Fair Trade Status and is an RHS Five Star Gardening School. The school team also collaborates with other schools in the area through cluster groups and membership of The Future Thinking Partnership and enjoys working closely with Reading University.
