About the school
Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 578 pupils on the school roll, taught between the ages of 11-19. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 2 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 25 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.

Values and vision
This is a busy, grounded and happy school which welcomes local, national and international pupils from diverse backgrounds. Offered here is a strong academic curriculum and a wealth of co-curricular opportunities underpinned by sensitive pastoral care and a well-founded sense of values. Above all there is hope that pupils will enjoy their time at Wellington and remember that the measure of a good education is one that has life-long benefits.
Wellington School offers an exciting and diverse set of subjects in the Sixth Form. Courses include the full set of so-called ‘facilitating’ A-level subjects, which are particularly highly regarded by top universities and indeed these facilitating subjects are extremely popular with students.
ISI
“The pupils’ personal development at all stages is excellent. They are articulate, confident, courteous and considerate in their dealings both with each other and with adults. The pastoral care and guidance provided are good. Arrangements made to ensure the welfare, health and safety of the pupils are sound.”
