Description

We are looking to recruit an outstanding teacher to join our highly successful and supportive Science department. In 2019, 90% of students achieved 9-4 grade in GCSE Biology, 86% for GCSE Chemistry and 92% for GCSE Physics. For Combined Science, 64% of our students achieved grade 9-4.

You will share our vision of achieving excellence and raising further standards of teaching and learning across the department plus developing a love of Science through discovery and practical investigations. You will be a team player with a clear understanding of current and future curriculum developments. In the Science department we have established units of work for each year group; please see the school website for details of the Science curriculum. We strive to facilitate manageable workload by sharing planning, resources and best practice, and by ensuring that any assessment, feedback and ‘marking’ is only carried out where it is essential to the progress of our learners and never just for the sake of it.

The school is situated to the West of London with good rail and road access. Our location means our staff enjoy living in areas such as West and South West London, Surrey and Berkshire making fantastic choices for city, suburban or rural living available.

Thamesmead is a vibrant and successful school. In 2019 our students gained strong GCSE results. 85% of students gained a 4 grade or higher in English and Maths and 58% of students achieved a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths. 83% achieved 5 GCSEs or more graded at 4 or above. "Pupils behave well, are co-operative and respectful towards their teachers and each other. Strong leadership aims to ensure that the school provides the best possible standards of teaching and learning."- Ofsted.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 27 September 2021.

Thamesmead School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to demonstrably share this commitment. Any successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
