Winchester College seeks to appoint a well-qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Head of English. The successful candidate, who will teach throughout the school, will join a thriving 11-strong department at an exciting moment in its history. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in shaping the teaching of English across all years at Winchester and will suit someone with aspirations to becoming a Head of Department.

Winchester College was founded in 1382, and is one of the world's oldest and most academically ambitious schools offering a full boarding education for 700 boys aged 13 – 18. It is also one of the most innovative: a distinctive and challenging curriculum is complemented by a wide array of sport, music, art, drama and other co-curricular activities. The school prides itself on encouraging pupils to think critically, independently and with originality.

The recent announcement of ‘Winchester College in the 21st Century’, marks the start of an exciting new chapter in Winchester’s development and the College intends to welcome the first day pupils into the Sixth Form in September 2022 and girl boarders in 2024.
