For September 2021 or January 2022
The recent announcement of ‘Winchester College in the 21st Century’, marks the start of an exciting new chapter in Winchester’s development. The College was founded by William of Wykeham, philanthropist and visionary who revolutionised education, and this new vision expresses Winchester’s ambition to continue to lead and influence great education on the modern global stage.
The admission of girls and day pupils into the Sixth Form is a key part of a significant change programme which will bring multiple benefits to this and future generations of Wykehamists. The College intends to welcome the first day pupils into the Sixth Form in September 2022 and girl boarders in 2024.
As part of these changes, Winchester now seeks to appoint an outstanding Deputy Head (Pastoral) to play a key role in delivering this vision, with responsibility for all aspects of the selection and integration of girls, and the development of a new girls’ boarding house. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to lead change in one of the world’s oldest and most academically ambitious schools and to contribute to the evolution of a leader in global education.
The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher with an outstanding mind and strong communication skills. A track record of success as a middle or senior leader, good natural leadership abilities and the tact and diplomacy skills to lead positive change are important. Applications are particularly encouraged from those aspiring to headship and this post offers exceptional opportunities for leadership development.
Winchester is an international community that celebrates individuality, talents and potential. The College embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace and is committed to promoting a fair and supportive environment for all our employees. Winchester’s culture is one in which different perspectives are prized and staff are valued for their individuality and shared sense of belonging.
