The Leigh Academy has a great opportunity for a fluent speaker of French to join and assist our Modern Foreign Languages Department from February 2023. Our newly appointed Foreign Language Assistant - French will be required to work with individuals and small groups of GCSE students, ensuring that they are exposed to a high quality of spoken and written language. If of interest, there could be other roles within the Trust that you could be considered for to top up the hours per week. Our successful candidate will work primarily with the French KS4 and KS5 teachers in order to support students in preparation for their GCSEs and A-Levels and will have excellent subject knowledge, be organised and ideally be experienced with the AQA GCSE and A-Level specifications.
The Foreign Language Assistants play a crucial role in promoting and supporting the creation of an environment that enriches and enlivens the students’ language studies by engaging each student in spoken and occasional written activities. It is the Department's belief that these activities are most effective and enjoyable when they are supported and developed by individuals who are passionate and understand the culture, traditions and current affairs of the countries in which the language is spoken.
By working with small groups, the successful applicant will be able to develop students’ skills and confidence in speaking French and will need to demonstrate their ability to develop learning resources.
This position is ideal for those seeking to embark on teacher training, as this role offers first hand experience and exposure to the modern foreign languages curriculum, classroom teaching and the opportunity of working directly with our teaching staff, or those seeking a consistent part-time role to fit around other commitments.
The role is 1 day per week (7.5 hours) throughout Term Time in line with timetable requirements and fixed term until June 2023 in the first instance. The actual salary being offered is £3,884 per annum (£22,864 full time equivalent).
