The Governing Body of Lawn Manor Academy is seeking additional governors.

Lawn Manor Academy is a secondary school educating students aged 11 – 16 in Swindon which lives by its vision of Inspiring and creating futures for all. The Academy, located in Salcombe Grove, Swindon, SN3 1ER, has a very diverse pupil population. It draws its pupils from across the town, including the Lawns area, as well as Parks and Walcot. This pupil population differs significantly from national and regional norms, with over 40% of pupils meeting criteria which allow the school to receive extra funding aimed at raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, and around a third have English as an additional language.

Part of Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust, Lawn Manor has a transformation strategy which is yielding excellent results, including developing pupil learning behaviour, and improving pupil progress and performance. We welcome applications from individuals who are keen to join us to help the school continue its drive to inspire and create futures for all its pupils.

Governors are responsible for ensuring the clarity of direction of the Lawn Manor Academy, holding the Headteacher to account for educational performance, and overseeing the priorities of the school.

Governors are required to attend six Governing body meetings a year, one per term. Meetings are normally on Mondays, with a start time of 5.15 pm, and last approximately two hours. Governors are also expected to make occasional visits to the school, for example to attend an evening Awards ceremony or musical evening. There are also opportunities during the day to take part in meetings with the senior leadership team to find out more about the work of the school.

Please email Jane Hext, the Chair of the Governing Body, for an informal chat to find out more.
