The John Lyon School’s estate comprises a number of buildings ranging from mid-18th Century to recent constructions. The sports grounds of Sudbury Fields are located just over half a mile from the main site, set across 28 acres of a mixture of sports fields, lawns, tree lines, buildings and car parks.
We are seeking a Groundsperson on a permanent basis to join the Grounds team in the provision of a high-quality grounds maintenance service to the School playing fields. This is an exciting time to join the Grounds team at the School, as we have recently joined with another school and are moving towards co-education in September.
The Groundsperson will support the Grounds Manager, other Groundsperson and overall Estates team with the completion of planned maintenance, use of heavy machinery, general grounds work and labouring, tree work, security, event set-ups, building checks and machinery upkeep. The successful individuals will have basic general grounds and maintenance skills, but relevant sports turf or chemical licence qualifications would be advantageous.
Candidates must also demonstrate good communication and organisational skills and be comfortable liaising with staff, pupils, parents, contractors and other third-party users of the School’s buildings and facilities. The successful candidate must possess a valid, clean driving licence.
