Description

About the role

We seek a dynamic and experienced LAMDA Teacher. We do not offer curricular drama. LAMDA is therefore an important part of our provision, and we have approximately fifty pupils attending lessons each week. Most study acting, public speaking, reading for performance and speaking verse and prose, but there is also some demand for musical theatre. LAMDA lessons take place during afternoon activity slots on two afternoons of the week (1400-1800 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; we are occasionally able to schedule lessons between 1400-1600 on Mondays and Fridays, but this is often not possible due to pupils’ additional commitments). We are looking for someone who has a proven track record of successfully developing pupils’ skills in acting and public speaking, including success in LAMDA graded examinations. The appointee will also need to be willing to teach across the full range of LAMDA disciplines.

The school was founded by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, in 1382. Winchester College is a boarding school of 724 pupils. In 2022, the school has accepted day pupils at 16+ years, both boys and girls; and will be accepting girl boarders at 16+ years from 2024. Situated in the heart of Winchester and within easy reach of London, there are few schools in the world which can claim to be as historic, distinguished and beautiful as Winchester College. This unparalleled combination attracts pupils from across the world, making Winchester a truly international and diverse community which celebrates and values everyone’s individuality, talents and potential.
