Description

Tormead seeks to appoint a Teacher of Physics (second in charge). The successful candidate will provide professional leadership and management for a significant key stage in Physics. The second in department will be expected to work with the Head of Department to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all pupils. They will deputise for HoD in their absence.

The successful candidate will teach classes in Physics from years 7 to 13 in a lively and ambitious Department, as well as taking a full part in the life of this busy and friendly school.

We are looking for an energetic character who can effectively communicate their enthusiasm for Physics and bring some humour as well as subject knowledge with them. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of, and a real enthusiasm for Physics and is likely to hold a good honours degree in Physics (or related subject).

They will be self-motivated and will relish the challenge presented by being part of a forward-thinking Department. A commitment to students, the department and the wider life of the school, plus a firm grasp of curricular developments are important as are empathy, being well-organised, a sense of humour and the ability to enhance the department’s delivery and development of Physics.

All teachers are expected and encouraged to participate in the wider life of our outstandingly successful school.
