Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We are currently looking for a Trainee Teacher of Mathematics to join our vibrant Mathematics department.
The Mathematics team here has a range of academic interests and teaching experience and is a close-knit and supportive group that works collaboratively to meet the department’s needs. Responsibility is very much shared, with staff having the opportunity to lead on individual initiatives, extension activities or year groups. Join us, and not only will you get to deliver inspirational and informative lessons, you will play a full role in the extra-curricular and pastoral life of the college too.
As well as teaching a reduced timetable across the full age range from Year 9 to 13, you will be encouraged to contribute to off-timetable workshops, extension programmes, pre-university seminars, competitions etc. Setting and marking examinations, sharing good practice and resources and safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children – all are aspects of a role that will see you enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the department and the wider college.
A great chance to draw upon your interests and enthusiasms and contribute wholeheartedly to other aspects of school life, you will need a good level degree in Mathematics or a directly related subject. You will be teaching elements of the 13-18 Maths curriculum to students preparing for IGCSE, IB DP or A level, so familiarity with those curricula would be an advantage. Although teaching experience or qualifications are not expected, experience leading classes or large groups would certainly be useful. More important though is a sharp and progressive vision of the subject, the ability to quickly build a positive rapport and a willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sport, drama, school trips, CCF activities etc.
Not only is this an excellent career development opportunity, it also comes with a generous salary and benefits package. So, if you are interested in boarding school life and keen to develop professionally, apply today.
Closing date: 5pm, Wednesday 16 June 2021
Interviews will take place w/c 21 June 2021
