The Weald is an outstanding, high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and we pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important. The school was judged to be “Outstanding in all areas” by Ofsted. Our three year rolling average Progress 8 results place us in the top 20% of schools nationally.

We require a flexible, dedicated and highly motivated individual to take a strategic role in our site development and maintenance and lead the premises team of our large comprehensive school in Billingshurst.

Duties will include a wide range of internal and external facilities management and practical site maintenance. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for ensuring the good condition, presentation and maintenance of the school site and grounds
  • Responsible for maintaining the efficient running of the school’s plant, machinery and property
  • Responsible for managing an effective site development and maintenance programme
  • Responsible for the management of the premises and cleaning teams
  • Responsible for the management and control of contractors (whilst on site)
  • Procurement of projects and works and stock control of equipment and supplies within an agreed budget

The successful candidate will need to have previous experience in facilities management. They will have the ability and commitment to deliver high standards of cleaning, security, facilities maintenance and development to ensure a safe and pleasant working environment for our students and staff. They will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and have the essential attributes shown in our person specification.
