We have a large Sixth Form (approximately 260 students) who study a mix of academic and vocational courses at Level 3. We also offer a one year Level 2 foundation year for students who have English as an additional language. We are looking for a new team member to join our Sixth Form staff as Learning Mentor. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in a career in teaching and with recent experience of university and A-Level work to support our students with their post-16 studies.
Our Sixth Form students already benefit from the support of a Form Tutor and Head of Year and Deputy Head of Year (one for each of Years 12 and 13). Each Learning Mentor will oversee a Sixth Form Study Room in our designated sixth form centre. They will make sure the students are completing independent work successfully and offer support and guidance to help improve the work set and wider reading needed for maximum success. You will also be pivotal in supporting students with their post 18 applications and wider curriculum experiences.
Previous experience of secondary school employment would be helpful but is not essential as we will provide all the necessary training to help you to be successful. The new members of this team need to be hardworking, dedicated to ensuring students of all abilities can succeed and, crucially, committed to being a great role model for future success.
Slough and Eton is a great school on the outskirts of Slough, which serves the Chalvey community. We are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do. It is an exciting time for us and our students are a pleasure to work with.
Staff benefits include:
- A generous PPA allocation.
- Complimentary breakfast.
- Break and lunch time refreshments.
- An onsite gym for staff use out of hours.
- Free flu vaccinations.
