Description

The ideal candidate will be able to offer art and, if full time, a subsidiary subject. Teaching is available in the Prep School (to Year 8) and Senior School (to Year 11) although experience of GCSE is not required. St Edmund’s is an expanding and successful school of 480+ girls and boys aged 2 to 16. The ability to teach across a range of art disciplines is desirable. The school participates in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Early applications are encouraged.

St Edmund’s is thriving with numbers the highest in its 146 year history. Average class sizes are small, circa fifteen pupils. In 2020 our students posted a 97.5% GCSE pass rate (grades 4-9) against a national average of 78%. Passes at grade 9 have risen to an impressive 24%, with 61% of passes at grades 7-9 (the old A*/A) and 92% at grades 5-9. More than a quarter of students achieved eight or more grades 7-9 and over half of candidates scored one or more grade 9.

A Regulatory Compliance inspection took place in January 2018 and the school was found to be fully compliant in all areas. A material change inspection by DfE in May 2015 rated the academic provision and planning for the senior years to be excellent.

The school was inspected by ISI in January 2014 and all academic and pastoral areas were graded “Excellent”.
