Description

Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of 785 pupils; 705 boys aged 11 – 18 and a further 80 girls in the co-educational sixth form. The School is located on a beautiful 46 acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.

The School employs over 170 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff. The School provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical and creative potential.

An enthusiastic, inspiring, Chemistry Teacher with outstanding subject knowledge is required from September 2021 or January 2022 to teach at all stages of the School. It is desirable that you will also be able to teach some junior Physics classes.

Chemistry and the other sciences are very well resourced and are popular at the School. Results in the department are strong.

It is likely that you will hold a degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline. Applications are welcome from NQTs and unqualified teachers.

Our teachers seek to encourage both class and individual study beyond the requirements of the curriculum.

You will also be expected to contribute to the co-curricular offerings of the department and the wider life of the School, to which your energy, warmth and pastoral instincts will lend themselves.

The School provides a stimulating and vibrant environment in which to teach, and you will join a highly committed and enthusiastic academic team.

Reading Blue Coat School has been frequently recognised by the Daily Telegraph as one of the top ten independent schools offering the best value in the UK.

Rented single room accommodation during the first year of employment may be available on campus if required.
