Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Chemistry teacher to join our friendly department from September 2022. The Chemistry Department is a thriving department that consists of nine full time members of staff and three technicians. It is housed in seven well-equipped teaching labs and a Harkness discussion room. Students enter the College in Year 9 and are part of a science rotation which aims to offer inspirational lessons; we focus on fostering independence and developing lab skills during each 10-week cycle. In Year 10 and 11 the students follow the Edexcel IGCSE course with many continuing into the sixth form to study either A Level and IB Chemistry.

The successful candidate will have the positive outlook required to be part of a successful team and ensure they deliver the best possible lessons and results. In particular the candidate will have a keen commitment to fostering a love of Chemistry through the co-curriculum.

The post would be equally suitable for a new or experienced teacher from the state or independent sectors with excellent professional development opportunities being available for all. Whilst a teaching qualification is not a pre-requisite for the role, the ability to impart a thorough knowledge and a passion for Chemistry to young adults is essential. The department is fully electronic in its resources and teaching and so an enthusiasm and ability in IT and digital learning is a real advantage.

Wellington College is set in beautiful grounds and is a co-curricular boarding school for students from Year 9 –13. As such the successful candidate will be excited by the need to contribute fully to the wider life of the school.

This is a great opportunity for a well-organised individual with a thorough knowledge of the material covered in the Chemistry Curriculum. Your experience of involvement in extra-curricular activities will have every chance to thrive too. You also have a positive outlook and great team ethos, are keen to help deliver exciting and engaging lessons and committed to the development of the Chemistry co-curriculum.

Not only is this an excellent career development opportunity, it also comes with a generous salary and benefits package. So, if you are committed to boarding school life, have a sharp and progressive vision of the subject and are keen to continue to develop professionally, apply today.
