Description

Part time (0.6)

We seek to appoint an excellent teacher of Technology to join a successful Technology Department in our diverse and very popular school.

The Design and Technology Department aims to draw on a broad base of knowledge and skills, which will lead to a “Technological Capability”, allowing pupils to be adaptable in a rapidly changing society. The Department comprises 5 members of specialist staff, and two technicians, and is fully integrated in all areas of Design and Technology with purpose-built facilities including the use of digital technologies. All pupils study Design and Technology throughout Key Stage 3. Within the subject many different skill areas are introduced to the pupils: these include Food Technology, Textiles, Product Design, Graphics, CAD/CAM. At Key Stage 4 pupils can then choose from Food, Fashion and Textiles and Product Design within the option pool system. Pupils who wish to specialise in Design and Technology, Fashion and Textiles can go onto take A2.

The department is also committed to providing valuable enrichment and extra-curricular activities for students, and regularly runs internal and national competitions, visits, as well as hosting external speakers on a range of topics related to Design and Technology.

We are committed to supporting staff wellbeing in a variety of ways. The wellbeing offer includes an Employee Assistance Programme. The good working relationships within the staff body, and between staff and students is why many colleagues have chosen to stay with us for the long term. We are also strong in supporting staff career development and colleagues are successful in securing promotions at all levels. We support colleagues in pursuing NPQs and offer a secondment programme onto the Senior Leadership Team for middle leaders.
