Description

A well-qualified and inspiring teacher is required to teach Food and Nutrition.

Food and Nutrition is part of the compulsory curriculum for all Year 7 and Year 8 pupils. In Year 9 students are encouraged to select at least one of four creative subjects, and normally approximately 60 students take the Food option. At Key Stage 3 the focus of lessons is to develop a love of food and cooking, to master practical skills and to begin to understand the principles of nutrition and sensible eating. Students can opt to take Food, Preparation and Nutrition at GCSE.

The Department is staffed by two specialist food teachers, one of whom is part time. In addition, the department is well supported by a part time technician.

Students at College are well-disciplined, conscientious and are extremely rewarding to teach. GCSE results in Food and Nutrition are very strong; last year 100% gained grades 9 to 7 with 50% obtaining the top grade.

The Food and Nutrition department also runs an extensive range of co-curricular activities for the students throughout the year.

All teachers are expected to contribute to the rich co-curricular life of the College, but there are no residential duties.

As one of the world’s leading schools, and with a strong pioneering heritage, our aim is to embody excellence, independence and empowerment in the education of young women.
