Description

Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of 785 pupils; 705 boys aged 11 – 18 and a further 80 girls in the co-educational sixth form. The School is located on a beautiful 46 acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.

The School employs over 170 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff. The School provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical and creative potential.

An enthusiastic and inspiring Geography teacher, with a flair for Physical Geography, is required from September 2021 (preferably) or January 2022 in this excellent department. An interest in teaching some Geology will also be desirable. You will teach at all stages of the School, including the Pearson/Edexcel International GCSE course (IGCSE) and the Cambridge International A Level syllabus.

The department has a reputation for excellence in teaching and learning and a record of examination success. During summer 2020, 58% of candidates achieved A or A* at A Level, whilst 91% of students gained at least a grade 7 at IGCSE level. Geography is very well resourced and popular at the School.

You will contribute to the co-curricular offerings of the departments and the wider life of the School, to which your energy, warmth and pastoral instincts will lend themselves.

It is likely that you will hold a degree in Geography. Applications are welcome from NQTs and those completing their PGCE qualification.

The School provides a stimulating and vibrant environment in which to teach, and you will join a highly committed and enthusiastic academic team.

Reading Blue Coat School has been recognised by the Daily Telegraph as one of ten independent schools offering the best value in the UK.

We offer an excellent salary and benefits package, dependent on qualifications and experience.
