Description

September 2024 for one year

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, talented and committed teacher of Languages to join the department from September 2024 on a full-time or part-time, temporary basis for one year to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will ideally be able to teach Spanish, French or German to KS4 GCSE.

The Weald is a high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school and sixth form college, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and we pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important. In the summer of 2023, our A-level results placed us top in West Sussex maintained schools for A*-B grades and in the top 5% of schools and colleges nationally; at GCSE we have a long record of students achieving over a third of a grade higher than their targets.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working teacher who meets the criteria below:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • The ability to motivate pupils and achieve excellent results.
  • Excellent organisational and ICT skills.
  • The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A passion for languages and the ability to share this with young people.
  • The ability to teach Spanish, French or German to KS4.
  • The ability to teach German to KS3 is desirable.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers and ECTs.

We offer you:

  • A positive and innovative learning culture supported by students, staff, parents and governors.
  • Enthusiastic students who are willing to learn and behave well in and around the school.
  • A professional, hardworking and supportive team of staff with the capacity and commitment to raise student achievement even further.

We welcome visits to the school. Please contact Yvonne Clements, PA to the Headteacher, to arrange a suitable time.

An application pack may be downloaded from our website www.theweald.org.uk

Please note that an application form must be completed for this post and should be returned to jobs@theweald.org.uk

The closing date for applications is 10am, Wednesday 22 May 2024.

Interviews will take place on Friday 24 May 2024.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applications are encouraged from ethnic minority candidates, as these groups are under-represented on the school's staff.

Only registered members can apply for jobs.
