Description

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Maths on a fixed term contract for one year.

The current department includes four full time and three part time teachers. Teaching in the Mathematics department is lively and successful, and girls achieve high standards at all levels.

Girls are set for Mathematics from the age of 11 and are taught in five or six divisions for each year group. In Years 7, 8 and 9, girls follow a curriculum that has been developed within the school and which takes account of the requirements of the National Curriculum. In Years 10 and 11, the Edexcel GCSE is followed, and all girls enter the examination at the Higher Tier. A very high proportion of girls stay on into the Sixth Form and Maths and Further Maths are a popular choice at A Level. Girls follow the Edexcel syllabus, taking modules chosen from Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and Decision Maths for Further Mathematics.

Mathematics can contribute to many aspects of the curriculum and the department aims to have good links with other subject areas. We also aim to make full use of the school’s ICT facilities. Girls take part in the national UK challenges and in locally organised competitions.

All teachers are expected and encouraged to participate in the wider life of our outstandingly successful school.

To apply for this role please complete the application and equal opportunities form found on the website along with an accompanying letter addressed to Mr David Boyd (Head) and send by email.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 23 May 2022

Interviews will take place later in the week.
