Description

Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of circa 800 pupils from ages 11 to 18. The School is located on a beautiful 46-acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.

The School employs more than 180 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff, and provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical, and creative potential.

An enthusiastic and inspiring modern foreign language specialist with outstanding subject knowledge is required from September 2023 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to join this excellent department. You will teach at least one modern foreign language to A Level and ideally a second to GCSE.

In this role, your passion for the language and desire to inspire this in others will lend you to delivering lessons with a sense of energy and excitement, encouraging discussion and helping students to develop a passion for foreign languages.

The successful candidate will have energy, drive and great ideas – we welcome applications from experienced teachers of modern foreign languages, or ECTs. Our teachers actively encourage both class and individual study beyond the requirements of the curriculum. You will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular offerings of the department and wider life of the School, to which your energy, warmth and pastoral instincts will lend themselves.

Reading Blue Coat offers an exceptional working environment and an attractive rewards package, including excellent benefits such as a pension scheme with 8% employer contribution; free meals; extensive staff discounts; tax saving cycle to work and car leasing schemes; free sports and leisure facilities; Employee Assistance Programme; and a strong commitment to professional development.
