Description

Seaford College has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Outdoor Education to join out Outdoor Education team. The role is interesting and varied with wide ranging responsibilities within the Outdoor Education department, including Forest School, Outdoor Education Carousels, Outdoor Pursuits (listed in the Outdoor Programme below), the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme as well as the potential to be involved in the Combined Cadet Force. As a member of the Academic Staff, the post holder will need to be qualified to teach Forest School lessons, and attend appropriate academic staff meetings, with full involvement in other aspects of School life, such as duties and supporting the boarding community. This position will be considered on a full time or part time basis.

In addition, the post holder is responsible for the coordination, integration, and development of the various outdoor activities they deliver. This includes Child Protection, Health & Safety, Risk Assessments, budgeting and development planning.

In the short term, the post holder will be required to successfully and effectively teach and deliver a large proportion of the outdoor education programme at Seaford. This will include the running of an effective Duke of Edinburgh programme, John Muir Award, Forest School, Bush-craft activities, trips, and alternative games programme (to consist of various outdoor activities - eg Climbing, Archery, Mountain Biking etc). In the longer term, there is the opportunity to contribute to the school’s strategic development plan for the provision of outdoor education across the age spectrum, including the consideration of investment in future facilities and planning overseas expeditions. Experience/qualifications in BTEC Countryside management is desirable but not essential.
